I’m about to go all Nitesh on you guys and write a sports blog. Sorry Jinjer, this may bore you as this will get kinda in depth haha. I usually don’t like putting my sports thoughts on facebook because I know someone would put some uninformed, stupid, naive comment and I’d just be furious. I hate facebook arguments when it comes to sports. Its as useless as arguing on YouTube. I’d like to think I have a little more knowledge than the common fan.
Now that I’ve had 24 hours to digest this trade, I can write this with a clear head.
Even though he didn’t autograph my jersey I still love the guy for all the hard work he did for the Warriors. In my heart, I always wanted him and Curry to work out but my head knew that, with Andris I can’t believe I bought your jersey Biedrnis manning the middle - it could never happen. I was stubborn in thinking 2 undersized guards with enough offense would cover up the fact that they play zero D
Why this trade is good:
It hurts to see Monta go. I appreciate that he never publicly complained, always gave 100%, and always put on a show. Its bittersweet. But now we can rebuild. In the NBA you want to be either really good or really bad. You want the opportunity to be in the lottery and draft that next star ala Tim Duncan in San Antonio or LeBron James in Cleveland. You never want to hover around that 7th or 8th seed and get tossed out of the first round. Being average gives us mediocre draft picks like Ike Diogu, Mikael Pietrus, and Marco Belinelli. None of which are nba superstars who turned us around.
“Can someone tell me what the Warriors are thinking?”
“Why do the warriors keep letting all their good players go?”
I see a lot of this. Or “why not trade Curry and Biedrins for Dwight?” Uh because they don’t want Biedrnis? Money plays a significant factor into trades as well. Its not fantasy!
Remember when the grizzlies traded Pau Gasol for his brother and how irate the memphis fans were? It turned out pretty well for both sides didn’t it. So to all you fans: just chill. Give it a chance. It sucks now - and it might for a litte longer - but it may very well be worth it later on. It was a risk we needed to take. We could never be a championship team with Monta being our #1 option. He was at his most efficient when Baron was his running mate. He ain’t coming back and no superstars are coming here to play with him. Whether or not Bogut pans out, this trade had to be done.
We finally have a plan. We believe 2.0 starts now.
